Five simple ways to create a natural air freshener

Our fast pace of life often means that we ignore just how much bad smells can have an effect on our mood and emotions. But try right now to imagine your favorite aromas: it might be freshly baked bread, hot coffee, the saltiness of the sea, or the fresh smells of the forest.

The good news is that you can recreate plenty of your favorite aromas in your home — and without the use of chemicals. We at Best Creative Ideas have put together a collection of five great ideas for natural air fresheners for your home. They’ll not only make your house or apartment more pleasant to be in, but they will improve your mood at the same time. Take a deep breath and enjoy!

Apple, cinnamon, star anise, and cloves

This fresh but at the same time piquant smell fits perfectly with the mood of a cool summer evening. Chop some apples into thin slices, place them in a jar, and pour in some water. Add some cinnamon sticks, several cloves, and a couple of pieces of star anise. You can modify this aroma by changing the ratio of ingredients.

Lemon, lime, rosemary, and vanilla

With its notes of rosemary and vanilla, this is a truly invigorating and fresh aroma. Cut the lemon and lime into slices, place them in a jar, and add water. Add just a couple of drops of vanilla extract and 3-4 sprigs of rosemary.

Lemon, thyme, mint, and vanilla extract

The unusual smell of thyme combines ideally with lemon and mint. Cut a lemon into slices, place in a jar, and pour in some water. Add a few fresh sprigs of mint and thyme. You can also use dried leaves of thyme and mint — they’re easily found in a supermarket. Add a couple of drops of vanilla extract.

Orange, ginger, and almond

The mix of the sweet and spicy aroma of almonds together with the juicy smell of oranges makes for the perfect combination. Cut an orange into thick round slices, place in a jar, and pour in some water. Add a couple of slices of lemon to make the aroma even fresher. You can also use some fresh ginger (cut into small slices). Then add several drops of almond essence.

Cucumber, basil, and lemongrass

The sharp smell of basil mixed with the freshness of cucumbers and lemongrass will quickly become your favorite if you’re looking for something to stimulate your senses. Cut off a few slices of cucumber, place in a jar, and add water. Add a few sprigs of basil (you can use dried basil) and a couple of drops of lemongrass essential oil.
